During the height of the pandemic last year one of my couples pushed their wedding way up and decided to have a small backyard wedding in Los Angeles. This was towards the end of the first lockdown when things were starting to open a little, and some restrictions were being lifted. I think this was the first time most of us had seen anyone besides our own household for a good while. It was also a time of trying to figure out the best protocols for being together.
Stephanie and Andre had one of their dear friends marry them. They got married in another friends yard. One friend was their flower girl. Another helped setup a zoom call for those that couldn't be there were. It was a collaborative effort that showed me just how people can come together to create something for their loved ones. In a time of uncertainty it was a beautiful thing to witness.
It may not be the wedding that these two originally envisioned but it was the perfect way to celebrate.
