I don't typically get to photograph weddings in Louisville or near home. This winter while I was actually home I reached out to my friend Olivia (a local planner) to see about setting up a few styled shoots at local venues for fun. I like to do shoots on my own without the pressure of it being a real wedding. It gives me the opportunity to try new things such as new poses, lighting techniques, and my workflow as I shoot. It's not always possible to try new things at weddings, so this was a great opportunity to be a little weird.
And being a little weird really paid off. The first time I shared any of the photos of this post it went viral. My favorite thing about having videos take off are that there are so many people out there that don't realize you can have non traditional wedding photos. Most of what people know when it comes to weddings are the standard smiling at the camera photos (which are fine), but I do love being able to show the world that that's not the only option.
