This session was especially exciting because these two will be the featured couple for the next Gathering on July 14th at the Conrad Caldwell House in Louisville, Kentucky. During the event, they will model for a wedding-inspired editorial shoot designed to help photographers create intentional, art-driven imagery. We’ll focus on using ambient lighting in an old estate, as well as editorial and artful posing. You can sign up, here.
Before the workshop, we spent time together in the studio getting comfortable with one another and exploring the dynamic they naturally bring in front of the camera. One of the things I love most about studio photography is how simple the environment can be. There are no distractions competing for attention. Instead, every expression, gesture, and glance becomes part of the story. The result feels timeless while still allowing room for creativity and experimentation.
As photographers, it can be easy to believe that beautiful images require dramatic locations or elaborate setups. However, sessions like this are a reminder that great photographs begin with light, connection, and intention. A simple studio space can become the backdrop for something powerful when the focus remains on the people being photographed.
I’m especially excited to see these two step into a wedding-inspired setting during The Gathering. The Conrad Caldwell House provides an incredible environment for storytelling, with its historic architecture, rich textures, and timeless character. Combined with this couple’s natural chemistry, it will create countless opportunities for photographers to build images that feel artistic, emotional, and purposeful. This editorial studio couples session offered a glimpse into what is to come. If this session is any indication, July’s Gathering is going to be something special.
