Jessica and Pedro had their wedding at Salvage One in Chicago. The space is filled with knick knacks, vintage goods, and antique furniture. It doesn’t really matter which direction you look in there is something interesting to see. It’s truly a wonderland that you could get lost in. I love that for their wedding they chose to stay on theme with their decor. They didn’t try to make the space into something it’s not and kept all of their decor to something I like to call “peddlers mall chic”.
I immediately loved Jessica and Pedro. Pedro is a tattoo artist in the Chicago area. He even surprised Jess after the ceremony by tattooing her initials onto his ring finger. Jess was actually my doula while I was pregnant. I remember while she was having her makeup done I made the comment that I wanted her as my doula if I ever had a baby, but never wanted kids. A year later I was seven months pregnant and Jess was indeed my doula. She kept me sane through the entire pregnancy and truly was one of the people I leaned on the most. I obviously didn’t know that during their wedding that would be the case, but it makes looking back at the photos so much better.
Chicago is one of those cities that you just fall in love with. It has everything you could want or need in a city. Especially as a photographer. Unique venues (like Salvage One), music, art, diversity, it’s almost perfect. We’re strongly considering moving there in the next year or so. It’s one of the only cities we can both truly agree on that we love. So we’re really looking forward to that adventure and possibly photographing a wedding at Salvage One again in the future.
