There’s something about the Oregon Coast that feels like a quiet kind of magic. A place that doesn’t ask anything of you, yet somehow gives everything back. This Gearhart Oregon Engagement Session came to life during one of my annual retreats, the very reason I keep returning to this stretch of coastline again and again. I’ve been trying to convince my husband to move here since the day we got married, and honestly, I’m still working on it.
Gearhart sits just north of Cannon Beach, where the shoreline stretches wide and open, often wrapped in soft fog and coastal wind. It’s quieter here. Slower. The kind of place where time feels like it loosens its grip a little. That’s exactly what this session felt like.
We didn’t overcomplicate it. We stepped outside, walked straight onto the beach, and let the moment unfold. No rush, no pressure—just movement, connection, and that endless Oregon horizon. Although these two are already married, there was something beautiful about returning to that in-between energy. The almost newlywed feeling. The softness. The ease.
And then there’s Orin.
If you love fantasy, this is where you’ll want to lean in a little closer. Orin has written her debut novel, By Blood, Shadow & Fire, and it releases at the end of April. I started reading it recently, and I genuinely couldn’t put it down. The kind of story that pulls you under in the best way. I actually had to force myself to stop reading just to get work done, which hasn’t happened to me in years.
Her story is rich, immersive, and deeply emotional. It follows Islyn, a character marked by gods and caught in a world of rising war, dangerous connection, and impossible choices. There’s tension, longing, and a kind of magic that lingers long after you’ve put the book down.
It felt fitting, in a way, to photograph her here. The Oregon Coast carries that same sense of mystery. Windswept, a little wild, and full of stories just beneath the surface.
This session wasn’t just about photos. It was about presence. About art, storytelling, and the way different creative worlds can quietly overlap. And honestly, that’s what keeps bringing me back here—again and again.
