In the winter and early spring I really like being able to do photography sessions just for me. A stretch of the creativity muscle and to shake off the stillness of winter. This past winter I didn’t get to do that because – baby. I did get to have several really amazing sessions in early 2024 though. This was one of them. I had been itching to do a session at the Louisville Palace and thanks to my friend Olivia, we were able to get in and do some creative work.
My original models had to back out at the last moment, but referred Maddie and Ethan to me. This was actually the first time we met and I was nervous that what I wanted would be hard to communicate. I was worried for nothing as it turns out. The session ended up being better than I had imagined. Maddie and Ethan, as it turns out, are incredibly photogenic – they also modeled for my last retreat.
The Louisville Palace is an incredible venue in downtown. I had never been prior to this session but now I’m constantly looking for shows to go to. Bob Dylan stood on the stage we shot on not even 24 hours before our session, which is crazy to think about. The Palace has so much rich history it would be perfect for an intimate wedding or a real engagement session. If I’m not mistaken they also just filmed part of a new movie in the theater as well. So, all in all, it’s a very cool space and I feel fortunate that I was able to photograph inside of it.
